The most fascinating aspects of Bhagavadgita is a set of beautiful verses which describe our original state, a source from where all of us have come that which does not change at all, that which has no birth nor death, that state is the state which transcends space and time. It is a state of infinite bliss. It is all knowledge. Pragnanovaibrahma. And different names are given for the state, moksha, Brahman, atman; Patanjali kaivalya called that as kaivalya, Buddha called as nirvana, Bhagavadgita called brahma nirvana. In scientific terms you can say it as absolute reality, eternity which all scientists are trying to get at from that source from where the whole creation has come. That has been described in these beautiful verses. Let us contemplate on that.
Najayatemriyatevakadachitha nayam bhutva bhavita vana bhuyaha Ajonityashashvatoyam puranaha nahanyate nyavanesharire.
Krishna in his teachings to Arjuna is bringing out this core essence of this spirituality. He says anyavanesharire nahanyate. The body which is being killed, the body which continuously goes on changing and changing and changing every moment. But encompassing all that at the base of all that which is changing there is an unchanging entity nahanyate it never gets killed. Najayate namriyate. This state of ours, this original state of ours, atman, najayate, it never takes birth; namriyate, it never dies, kadachitha, never. And that is the wonder of wonders. Naayam bhutva nabhavita nabhuyaha. It was not that not there in the past, it is not that it is now, it is not that is not going to be in future, the double take it is. But it says it is always there in the past, present and future. Trikalaathithamidam as it said, it is beyond the kala, beyond time. Therefore it is called omnipresent. Ajaha, unborn, nityaha, eternal, shashvataha, permanent, iyampuranaha, the oldest of the old, that is our original state. You must go on contemplating on that, that upanishadic essence. And
vedavinashinamnityam jaye namajavyuhaham tathamsapurushapartha angatayatiantikam.
If you understand if Krishna is telling to Arjuna, if you can understand this truth. What is that? Avinashinam. That which has no destruction, nobody can destroy, nityam, eternal, nayedhamajamavyayam. It is not born, ajam means it has no janma. Avyayam, it has no change, vyaya, it doesn’t deteriorate. It doesn’t waste. If you understand this, vedacheth, then how can anybody kill anybody else. I cannot kill your atman, you cannot kill my atman. Khatamyepartha purushahakhamgatayathi kamhanti. How can you kill? How can you inflict pain on this eternal? Nainanchindathishastrani nainandavakapavakaha nachaiynankledanpahaka yashoshayathimaruthaha.
Shastraniyenam chindathi. Shastrani, no weapon. Even the most powerful atomic bomb or anything. Nayenamchindathi, they cannot cut our self. Nayenampavagatihi, no fire can burn it. Na apaha kledanti. No waters can wet it. And na maruto ashoshayathi, any amount of cyclonic wind you may have, it is not going to blow it up. Such is our permanency. Such is our original nature. Such is our self. Such is our real home
