Patanjali Yoga is one of the Shadh darshanas and that is what is known as yoga. Nyaya, Vaisheshka, Sankhya, Yoga, Purvamimamsa, Uttaramimamsa, are the 6 darshanas, systems of philosophies. Among them yoga is the one that has been developed by Patanjali. Why did Swami Vivekananda give the term Raja Yoga for this yoga? Because he said among all the yogas this is the king. Because this has been accepted by all people and therefore they have understood that it is very essential. Because of this he gave the name ‘king among all the yogas’.
