Abstract
Patanjali Maharashi compiled all the information available until then and brought out the wonderful Yoga Sutras of Patanjali; 196 Sutras, 4 chapters, 900 BC, almost 3000 years back. That is the antiquity of Yoga. In tradition Yoga meant Patanjali Yoga. But the broad vision of Swami Vivekananda brought Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga and Karma Yoga as the four streams. Otherwise Yoga means Patanjali Yoga. Why did he progress on Raja Yoga, king among Yogas? Because that was accepted by all.
