In January, I had a physical examination with my doctor. The Hemoglobin A1c
result was 5.5% total HGB (non-diabetic is <6.0%). The BP was 131/90. I am at
severe risk of diabetes, since my mother and father are diabetic and in the past
I have had high blood sugar levels.
My left knee had been hurting severely at that time. The doctor referred me
to a surgeon, whose diagnosis was that there was meniscus tear (after an MRI).
The doctor prescribed some pain medication for 30 days and told me that if the
pain continued after 30 days, he will have to perform a surgery on the knee. I
never took the medication.
I started taking Yoga classes Keshava Smruthi under the guidance of Sri. Rama
Rao And Mrs. Meera Rao in March 2003. The pain in the knee disappeared after
about a month.
In August, I went back to the doctor for checkup. B/P is normal and Diabetes
is in Control.
The doctor was very impressed with the result. He commented that the results
were definitely due to the regular practice of yoga. He mentioned that as long
as I am practicing yoga, it is delaying the diabetes which he says I will
definitely get due to the family history.
I recommended to the doctor that he also start practicing yoga and referred
him to you, he is also diabetic. He seemed to be interested but gave the usual
excuse (that everyone gives) about having no time.

Mr. Rama Rao, Yoga Therapist,
I have been receiving Yoga instructions and exercise for about 3 months. My
Objectives was to replace and upgrade the physical and therapeutic therapy being
received at MD Anderson Hospital due to its ineffectiveness in restoring the use
of my right side, particularly my right hand. As the accompanying document
indicates the removal of a brain metastasis followed by chemotherapy and whole
brain radiation resulted in partial paralysis of my right side. Using Yoga
therapy as applied by you with a focus on restoration of my right side using the
various techniques for breathing, meditation, relaxation, and stretches, I have
regained the limited use of my hand and anticipate shortly the return of
complete dexterity to my right hand.
Thank you for your ongoing time, attention, and dedication to my health and
welfare.
Sincerely,
Emmanuel Cheney Campbell Cypress, TX 77429 |

Dear Sri Rama Rao,
It was by chance , rather by His will that we came to know about you and the
miracle touch you have, thru Sri Ramanath Kongovi. We are very thankful and
grateful to you for helping my wife Vani, get over her pain in her left leg from
waist till foot.
She was unable to stand for more than a few minutes, nor lie down
horizontally, again for more than a few minutes. She had to be sitting on a
chair with her legs resting on another chair in front of her. Same posture to
sleep at night also. While she somehow learnt to go thru this, the pain was
unbearable. The usual home remedies didn't do her much good. That's when we met
you.
Now after about 2 months of yoga therapy she underwent with your help and
guidance, she is now able to stand and walk for about an hour and sleep more or
less normally thru the night. As advised, she will continue the prescribed daily
practice with the help of the recorded tape you have given her. She will meet
you again after your return from India and by that time she hopes to be fully
OK.
In between, she visited her physician (who happens to be an Indian too) who
prescribed some tablet for nerve stimulation and advised her to take
physiotherapy. Then Vani told her about the yoga therapy she was undergoing.
Then the doctor said she should continue with the yoga therapy in preference to
physiotherapy. Vani started with the nerve stimulation tablets but soon
discontinued. We wish to place on record the encouragement extended and your
personal involvement and interest in treating this case, and special thanks to
Smt Meera Rama Rao, in teaching Pranayama, and Meditation to my wife Vani. .
Thanks to SVYASA for providing the services and facilities for carrying on
this good work.
With best regards,
Parameswar |

Dear Meeraji I am dioganised with having Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. I always
wanted to learn Yoga but could never find a right time to start. But when I was
still having a lot problems with my hands even after the CTS release, one of my

It was then the right moment to fulfill my dream and get relief from the pain in
my hands and wrists. The Yoga techniques you showed me have been very helpful.
My hands and wrists are gaining more strength. Besides this all the other things

outlook towards life. Your professional attitude and knowledge is great. I have
enjoyed every single minute of my training with you and looked forward to come

The Yoga Classes I had with you ( Rama Rao) for 10 Days only from 05/05/2006
to 05/23/2006,, for my sciatica and lower back ailment helped me a great deal. I
had some relief from the numbness of the left foot and I am sure with regular
practice of the exercises you taught me during the classes it will eventually go
away. Not only have I lost weight after the regular practice of Yoga but my
blood pressure is lowered.
Thank you for your assistance and look forward to your guidance in
future.

My experience with the yoga program taught by Mr. Rama Rao has been extremely
beneficial and after 9 months, I am addicted. When I started, I was having some
problems with my knee joints and also some shoulder pain. At age 53, it is just
part of the aging process. I decided to try yoga to help me be more flexible and
to eliminate the aches and pains of aging. It has done that and more. I was
unable to walk down a flight of stairs due to knee pain. Now I have no problems.
Shoulder aches from sleeping positions have disappeared. In addition to that, I
feel the mental benefits are even greater. It is such a wonderful stress
reliever and I sleep better at night after yoga too..

Dear Mr. Rao,.
Myself and my wife have completed three weeks of yoga practise under your
guidance from 15th Jan to 25th Feb 2006, and our feed-back of one to one yoga
exercises, controlled breathing and relaxation has benefited us both. In my case
my joints are more flexiable along with reduced pain, I feel that the pranayama
has improved my breathing and feel no tension in my daily work. In general my
life style has changed to a relaxed person and I belive will help in lowering my
B.P.
My wife had acute knee problem and had two orthoscopy operations on both
knees. Now ,she has less pain and can move around easily and has increased
capacity of work while standing i.e. cooking, etc.
We both feel that we have a long way to go and will continue the yoga regime
to live a healthy and relaxed life style.
We are already passing on this message to our friends. With best regards
.

Rama and Meera,.
I greatly appreciate the excellent teachings you have provided over the past
several months during the Yoga Therapy Course. The quality and scope of the
teachings far surpasses anything I had previously experienced in the
Americanized version of yoga that is normally taught in this country. The books
that were distributed for this course are some of the best yet that I have
received from the VYASA organization. The summary Yoga Modules and illustrated
Index in two of the books are extremely helpful in reviewing the practices and
as a reference for teachers. The questionnaires for people with specific
illnesses may also be quite useful for those with regular patients. Also, your
answers to my questions during class, such as Meera's explanation of "Bramari"
were quite helpful, as there is much that is not explained in the books .
Unfortunately, I have had several personal problems that prevented me from
attending most of your classes, including difficult commutes of over 75 minutes
due to heavy traffic in the evenings coming from League City.

Testimonial.
This is a testimonial of our visit Rama Rao Ji and Mira Ji of sVYasa in
Houston Tx. My son Atrey Khoche was diagnosed with stiff eye muscles and
focusing problem by our eye doctors. After several second opinions it was clear
that by he needed therapy for his eyes. His eye doctor suggested Vision Therapy
as provided by some eye doctors. However, we decided to pursue Yoga therapy.
Then stated the our search for a good instructor in the Bay area in California.
After discussing with many local instructors it as evident that there was no one
available in the local area who could offer therapeutic yoga. We were then
fortunate to find the contacts of Rama Rao ji. After our conversation with Rama
Rao Ji about Atrey's eye problem, Rama Rao Ji confirmed the treatment plan with
the sVYASA kendra in Bangalore. We then fixed up our plans to Visit Houston.
Rama Rao Ji and Mira Ji graciously accomodated our request in their busy
schedule to offer Atrey the much needed training. In addition they offered us to
stay with them in their own house and share their company and of course the
delicious food. Before coming to Houston, we were little skepticle in terms of
training a young boy, as Atrey is only seven and half old. However, after
meeting with Ram Rao Ji and Mira ji all the doubt were quickly dispelled. Mira
ji started teaching Yoga to Atrey with utmost affection and care and were able
to get Atrey paying attention and grasping the Yoga techniques. Within few days
only Atrey was able to pickup most of the Asanas. In addition to teaching a
young boy, another challenge was to keep his interested in the three times a day
practice schedule. Mira ji's caring attitude got the solved quickly. In all we
spent ten days from 10th Sept to 22nd Sept 2006, with them and were able to get
Atrey learn all the Yoga techniques and was able to perform them with little
instructions. Another point worth mentioning is the attention to details, Mira
ji were very particular about every detail in each practice whether it was
Pranyam, Asana or Trataka's. She also ensured that Atrey understood their
importance and was getting versed with them.Aside from the Yoga, Both Ram Rao ji
and Mira Ji offered us a great company. Keeping a seven year old boy happy and
not bored is not an easy task, but both made anextra effort to time from their
busy schedule toentertain us and take us out at times. Not even a single time
did Atrey mentioned "I am getting bored". Overall, it was a great experience and
we got all what we came to Houston for and we are sure to get the benefits of
the Yoga techniques in getting Atrey's eye problem resolved. I would recommend
anyone who needs help in Yoga and specifically needs theraputic yoga, please
contact Rama Rao Ji and Mira Ji from sVYASA. Please feel free to call me as well
at 408-517-8943 if you want to know more about our visit..
Ajay Khoche Atrey' Dad.
Cheers, Ajay

Mira and Rama Rao ji,.
Thank you for the email (diet). The following is my feedback for the 15 day
course.
Kannu Wadhwa.
Feedback for Yoga therapy .
Name: Kannu Wadhwa.
Age: 21.
Problem: Rheumatoid Arthritis.
About a year and a half ago, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Although the cause is still unknown to me, I have suffered a lot during this
time. My knees were swollen due to inflammation and I could not move my
shoulders much. It was impossible for me to sit on the ground and then stand up
without any support. I started taking heavy medication but the pain was not
going away. I had to give my martial arts due to this.
I have been under yoga therapy for 15 days now. After the first 5-6 days I
felt a little pain reduction in my toes and finger joints from doing joint
exercises with Mira ji. My neck muscles also felt a little relaxed after doing
neck exercises continuously for 15 days. My left knee and shoulder are also
feeling a little better; however there is no significant change in the right
side. Since this is a chronic disease, I realize I will have to practice yoga
for some time before I can see any considerable difference.
The 15 day course with Mira ji was very helpful for loosening my finger
joints. My classes were usually 2 hours a day and ended with pranayama and
nadishudhi. We started with loosening and stretching techniques for all joints
and then went on to postures. We also did meditative postures and exercises to
give power to the joint muscles. The postures are very helpful in calming down
the whole body, especially since my life is very stressful and hectic; I feel
that pranayama combined with the postures will really help me relax my brain
after a long day of classes and work. I learnt a lot during my stay in Texas and
will try my best to continue with the yoga Mira ji and Rama Rao ji have taught
me. I really appreciate their cooperation.

I read George’s response to you and he really summed up many of my feelings
about yoga. I would agree with all of the points that he made. One of the
biggest benefits is the increased level of flexibility. Tom and I both feel that
we have made substantial progress in that area.
It is also very good to be able to work or concentrate on a particular area
in one of the yoga classes when one of us (or more) has a particular problem
(ex. – back, joints, etc.). I also have better muscle tone as a result of the
classes.
Tom and I both agree that we have both experienced many positive results from
the classes.

Rama, The benefits of yoga are many but these are the most important to me:
1. It helps me to relax. When I come home from work I am often tense. After
one hour of yoga, I feel relaxed and refreshed.
2. Increased flexibility. Our bodies tend to tighten up as we grow older.
Since starting yoga about two years ago, I have regained some of the physical
flexibility I enjoyed in earlier years.
3. Reduction or elimination of discomfort in body joints. Two years ago I was
beginning to feel arthritic-type pain in my shoulders and hips. The hip pain is
totally gone and the shoulder discomfort is significantly reduced. I do some of
the movements that you taught us on a regular basis, almost daily, and the
results have been very noticeable.
4. A better understanding of the relationship between mind and body. Our
regular sessions make me aware of the importance of achieving harmony between my
mind and my body. I need much improvement in this area but I have made some
progress.
I'm sure that there are other positive effects of which I am unaware, but the
above are the ones I notice.

I was most interested in yoga for the osteopenia in my right hip. I also have
arthritis in my right shoulder joint, so I wanted to strengthen those muscles. I
had been told by my doctor not to do exercise where I raise my arms over my head
because of my shoulder, and not to do leg lifts because of my hip. Since I have
started yoga, my shoulder seems better. However, the exercises that require
raising your leg while lying down sometimes make my hip hurt for days afterward.
Other times it doesn't bother it at all, so it's confusing.
Overall, I greatly enjoy the yoga classes, and especially look forward to the
deep relaxation at the end.

Over the past 6 years I have lost much muscle tone, flexibilty and strength
due to Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I feel this class has helped me in these ways. 1. I think I have more
stability on my feet. 2. I am regaining some flexibility in my joints. 3. I seem
to have more stamina for walking and daily chores. 4. The hour spent in yoga
class refreshes me and helps my over-all sense of well-being.
