Proposals Submitted :

1. SVYASA has entered into collaboration with Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, University of California, San Francisco in writing a grant proposal for National Institute of Health on Complementary and alternative medicine. The Title of the grant proposal is Yoga , Meditation and Health.. The overall goal of this proposal is to develop an international research partnership between the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine (OCIM) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation. This will be accomplished through a systematic, collaborative process of planning, training, technical support and collaborative research. The research agenda will focus on mind-body healing practices in yoga and meditation. The specific research projects in Phase I will include work on diabetes and HIV, significant international health concerns in India and the US and lay the groundwork for expanded investigations in particular research areas. The proposal also covers 3 months training program in Yoga for UCSF faculty and training in Clinical Research program (TICR) for SVYASA Faculty.
2. Proposal Submitted to Alkem Laboratories: A proposal has been submitted to Alkem Laboratories, Mumbai for infrastructure development of Immunology and Molecular Biology lab. Two projects have been submitted along with the proposal which looks at effects of Curcumin in cancer patients and also that of yoga therapy in delaying the recurrence of metastases in Stage III Breast Cancer patients. The proposal also aims to study DNA repair mechanisms relevant to cancer.
3. Research & Infrastructural Proposal for "Center for Advanced Studies in Yoga" to Indian Council of Radical Research, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
4. "Holistic treatment for psoriasis": a controlled clinical trial and scientific review of the treatments used to the Dept. of Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
5. "Effect of yoga on immunological and autonomic status in bronchial asthmatics - a randomized controlled study" to the Dept. of Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
6. "Changes in insulin and cortisol levels in non-insulin dependent diabetics after an integrated approach of yoga therapy" - a controlled study to the Dept. of Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
7. "Neurophysiological correlates and therapeutic applications of meditations" to the Dept. of Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
8. "Effects of yoga therapy in high risk pregnancy" to the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
9. "Scientific validation of effects of specific yoga breathing practices described in ancient yoga texts" to the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
