Prashanti hosts Nobel Laureate

LALITHAKALA AWARD TO DHANANJAYANS

The 33rd annual Lalithakala Award instituted in memory of Padma Vibhushna Smt Rukiminidevi by her ardent disciple and former Professor of Dance at Kalakshetra Kumari Uma Rao will be conferred to Natyacharya V P Dhananjayan and Shantha Dhananjayan at a colorful function to be held on 28th Feb 2009 (Birthday of Smt Rukminidevi) during Natyanjali-2009 Dance festival Incidentally Dhananjayans will be receiving Padmabushana award this year at New Delhi The award function will be followed by Dance feature “Nritya Tarangini” by Dhananjaynas on 28th Feb 2009 at 6 PM

The Sangeetharatna award that was deferred during the 4th annual Geethanjali Music Festival –2009 due to sad demise of former President R Venkataraman is rescheduled on 2nd March 2009

H E Sri ESL Narasimhan Governor of Chatisgarh will confer the title of Sangeetha Ratna to well known vocalist Mrs Sudha Ragunathan Chennai on 2nd March 2009 followed by her vocal concert at 6 PM

Dr Yeddyurappa Honorable CM will be felicitated with the award relevant to his dedicated yeoman Service to people of Karnataka during this occasion Prof Uma Rao and team will present Valmiki Ramayana dance ballet On 1st March 2009 On the valedictory day (3rd March 2009) Nirupama and Rajendra team Abhinaya Art center will present Kathak Nritya Feature The day will be dedicated to memory of Kathak exponent Late Pandit Teertram Sharma the first Guru in Dance to Prof Uma Rao Founder Director of the Academy.

In view of the research activities of Music and Dance Therapy under taken by Sri Lalithakala Academy in collaboration with SVYASA Yoga University the festival will be celebrated at Prashanti Kutiram of SVYASA University Campus for the benefit of students and teachers in Yoga Art connoisseurs and art lovers are also welcome on all 4 days Bus facilities from Eknath Bhavan Gavipuram circle behind Sri Ramakrishna Mutt Basavanagudi Bangalore is organized ( subject to confirmation of those who would like to attend the function) on all four days from 4 PM to 4-30 PM sharp and return journey (after light refreshments ) at 9 PM. The festival is jointly sponsored by Department of Kannada and Culture and SVYASA Foundation Bangalore according to press release by the Secretary of the Academy Sri B S S Rao
