Abstract

Science and technology are the main mantras in the modern society. These two facilitate all-round development which everyone wants in one’s life. Recently, development is qualified by word ‘sustainability’. ‘Vijnän’ word in the Vedic context implies eco-friendly insightful understanding of universal mysteries. This very wisdom helps for a sustainable development. If total health at individual level and eco-friendly approach at social level are followed no doubt that there will be no friction at global level.

As global warming and natural calamities are increasing day by day alarmingly the very concept of development is being altered by the scientific fraternity. Now this is the high time to think afresh about the whole future plane for science and technology. Due to unnatural life system mankind is unknowingly anticipating many types of incurable diseases. A heavy rush towards acquiring modern gadgets make one’s whole lifestyle highly imbalanced, eventually leading to various types of hitherto unknown illnesses.

The daily life system in ancient India is equated with yajna. This is considered as the most essential human nature when most of the people were following an eco-friendly lifestyle followed by their ancestors I their family tradition. This value is very well portraited with in Änandavallé in Taittiréya. As it is well known our body consists of five sheaths like Annamaya.etx. The fourth Koça called Vijnänamaya is the root where the corrective measure to be taken so that its effect will be manifested in the outer layers. In vijnanamaya kosha the main ingredients are Shraddhä, Rta, Satya and Yoga. The first aspect Shraddhä stands for mental sublimation. The mental knots and imprints always control our outer behavior and other habits. The second aspect, Rta symbolizes nature friendly food, shelter, daily routine and behavior. Satya, stands for truthfulness in communication and verbal clarity. All these three aspects are culminated in yoga. Therefore that is considered to be the core of this Koça. The practice of spiritually based yoga (Adhyätmayoga) enriches human inner potentiality resulting in graded ascendance in human journey. Life journey of mankind with this insight is YAJNA.
