Abstract

Background: Agnihotra is the procedure for purifying the atmosphere through oblations to a sacred fire by chanting mantras at proper timing of sunrise and sunset.
Aims and objective: To highlight on the ancient tradition of Agnihotra and also to focus on the methodology of Akkalkot tradition of Agnihotra.
Method: Agnihotra activates cosmic energies and they get concentrated at the place where it gets performed. At the time of the performance of Agnihotra an aura energy field gets created of its own around the plant life in area. The vital energy sustaining energies coming from solar system gets entangled in this aura energy field through the medium of copper pyramid. As long as flame is there in copper pyramid aura energy field sustains around the copper plant. The resultant effect is that plant became disease free. It is useful for the lives around it.
Svämi Gajänana Mahäräja has restablished this technique by systemizing and simplifing in India, Akkalkot ;because of which Agnihotra has become easy and benefitial practice for common people. Number of researches has shown that Agnihotra is useful in the field of agriculture , disinfecting environment, as a therapeutic healing tool.
Conclusions: It is highly simplified and well framed scientific methodology. Regular practice of Agnihotra may help people in day to day life.
