Department of Health Sciences Literature survey about the diseases from yoga texts/ Vedas/ Ayurveda, Homeopathy/ Siddha for
a. Development, standardization and updating of yoga modules for prevention, treatment, long-term rehabilitation and to deal with acute cases of modern ailments such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension & IHD, arthritis, ageing, cancer, AIDS, etc.
b. Development of diagnostic tools as nadi pariksa, nabhi pariksa, triguna and tridosa aspects, nostril dominance, prana pariksa, medical astrology, etc.
c. Tracking the pranamaya, manomaya, vijnanamaya and anandamaya kosas for promotion of positive health.
d. Understanding of the holistic dimensions of pharmacological interventions.
e. Development of holistic treatment modalities using the pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions working at physical, pranic, mental, emotional and intellectual levels.
f. Tracking the holistic perspectives and "Unity in Diversity" linkages in various Indian systems of medicine.
g. Studies on qualitative dimensions of diet - studies on Tamasik, Rajasik and Sattvic foods; Vata, Pitta and Kapha type foods. Role of Fasting, modalities of preparing the food, serving the same, chanting of prayers, way of eating, etc.
h. Field studies to include long-term follow-up, population studies, etc.

a. Base line studies of physiological parameters as Metabolic rates, lung functions, Autonomic changes, Evoked Potential, sleep structure, immune behavior, DNA repair mechanisms, psychological and para-psychological parameters of basic yoga practices and their roles in normal persons as well as in persons with illnesses.
b. Examining the special aspects of yoga as stimulation-relaxation combine in contrast to mere relaxation; combination of different practices of yoga in comparison to individual yoga practices; integral vs individual yoga; comparison of working at different levels of yoga at annamaya, pranamaya, manomaya, vijnanamaya and anandamaya kosas.
