Objectives:
To help participants gain an understanding of the perspectives and issues of human behavior in organizational context, to help participants acquaint themselves with the application of behavioral science knowledge and methods in dealing with issues of individual/interpersonal/group behavior in organizations.

Course Content:

Unit 1:
Nature of Organization. Evolution of management thought., span of management, system and process of controlling.

Unit 2:
Process of perception, steps, perceptual distortions, personality, attitudes and values, influence of socialization on attitude.

Unit 3:
Learning process, models of learning, role of rewards and punishment, organization learning and learning organizations, problem solving and decision making.

Unit 4:
Individual and group motivation: hierarchy of needs theory, Theory X and theory Y, Motivation hygiene theory, ERG theory, ERG theory, Mc-Clelland’s theory, Equity Theory, Leadership, power and Authority.

Unit 5:
Group process, making of group, group values and norms, formal and informal groups, reason fro group formation, group cohesiveness group development, maturity, conflict management, line and staff conflict.
