Objective:
To enable students to critically examine ethical dilemmas and to understand the importance ethical principles and of governance mechanisms in a globalized economy. To create in students self-development through Human Quality Development Managers and Morals: Setting Ethical Standards, The way of moral knowledge, Ethics: Meaning, Definition and Scope.

Unit 1:
Eastern and Western Ethical Thought and Business Practices:

Universal norms and geographically different cultures, Wisdom of Socrates, Suitability of Eastern values to Western business, Doctrines, Dogmas and Business Management: Pragmatism and ethics, The scourge of socialism, social market economy, Decision Making: Moral Reasoning and Its Application.

Unit 2:
The way of moral action:

Application of Ethical Standards to Business Disciplines - Manufacturing, Marketing, Advertising, Finance Customer the Ultimate Stakeholder, Duties of the manufacturer, Rights of the Consumers, Ethical Consumption, Legal business versus Moral business

Unit 3:
In the Marketplace:

Exploitative nature of Advertising, Culture versus Ad-culture, Serious Problems in Contemporary Advertising.

Unit 4:
The World of Finance: Financial Standards, Financial Institutional Responsibility, Capital Market and Regulation Managers and Workplace: Managing People in the Organization, Workers and Morals, Rights and Duties of employees, Just wages, Union morality, Workplace surveillance versus privacy, Health and Safety hazards,Whistle blowing , Abuse of official position, Forma of discrimination and their morality, Affirmative action or job reservation as a form of social justice Manager and Corporation, Corporate Citizen: Organization in the World, The way of the new person in the society, Corporate Governance: Corporation as moral person, Corporate governance theories, Salient features of good corporate governance, Institutionalization of Corporate Governance: Emergence of corporate governance code, Development of Indian corporate governance, Assumption of best practices, Failure of corporate governance, Character competence of corporations

Unit 5:
Corporate Social Responsibility:

Moral arguments for corporate social responsibility, Issues in corporate social responsibility, Development of corporate conscience as the moral principle of corporate social responsibility

Unit 6:
Challenges of Environment: Principles of Environmental Ethics, Environmental challenges as business opportunity

Unit 7:
Challenges of Cyber Age:

Information Technology and its moral significance to business, Internet crime and punishment, Intellectual property rights

Unit 8:
Challenges of Unresolved Problems:

Gender Rights, Human Rights, Animal Rights

Unit 9:
Human Quality Development (HQD):

Beyond the selfish gene syndrome, Importance of Human values & Spiritual values in management,management, Inner Qualities Development, Developing character competence, 3T model of values, Guna theory as a basis for HQD, HQD as foundation for Business ethics and Good Governance, HQD models: Thought-Action analysis, G/T ratio, Relationship analysis, ENU model of human actions, Karma advantage etc.
