Nursing Care
Nursing Care – Functions of the Hospital, Organisation, Major Departments, Care of the tubs, Catheters, Beds & patients.

Unit 2: (10 hours)
First Aid
1. General principles
2. Wounds, Control of Haemarrhage, Epistaxis
3. Shock - classification and treatment
4. Burns, Scalds, Heat and Cold wounds
5. Dog, Snake and Scorpion bite
6. Fracture, dislocation, sprain and **
7. Poisoning
8. Epileptic fits, Convulsions in children
9. Aspiration of foreign body
10. Artificial respiration
11. Bandages of different types
12. Loss of consciousness in general principles of treatment
13. Recognition, Evaluation of :
• Clinical emergencies of Cardiovascular system
• Respiratory system
• Gastrointestinal system
• Central Nervous system
• Renal System
• Endocrine and Metabolism
• Miscellaneous Emergencies

Unit 3: (10 hours)
Medical Emergencies
1. Cardiovascular Collapse and sudden death
2. Management of Cardiac Arrest
3. Shock – Clinical Manifestations and Management and Treatment
4. Acute Respiratory disorders
5. Emergency room evaluation of stroke
6. Increased intracranial pressure and Head injuries
7. Status Epileptics
8. Severe dehydration due to vomiting, diarrhoea and dysentery
9. Hyperpyrexia and Hypopyrexia
10. Poisoning and its management
11. Drug overdose
12. Drowning and near drowning
13. Anaphylaxis and Transfusion reactionsv 14. Venoms, Bites and stings
15. Diabetic Ketoacidosis and Hypersmotic Coma
