A. Hydrotherapy (40 hours)
a. History and General Principles of Hydrotherapy
b. Physical properties of water
c. Physiological basis of Hydrotherapy
d. Physiological effects of hot and cold water
e. Reflex effects of hot and cold water
f. Reflex areas
g. Action and reaction
h. Conditions that encourage and discourage action and reaction
i. Efficacy of water drinking – 3 liters of water a day, physiology of water absorption & elimination – Importance of “Usha Panam”.
j. The techniques of Hydrotherapy – Types, methods of application, Indication & Contra- indication of the following
• Enema & Colon Irrigation
• Baths – Hip bath, Sitz bath, Foot bath, Spinal bath, Spinal spray bath, Arm & Foot bath, Immersion bath, Epsom salt bath, Steam bath, Sauna bath.
• Packs – Different types of local applications, full wet sheet pack – Mustard pack – Castor oil pack
• Douches
• Effusions
• Fomentation
• Compresses

B. Mud Therapy(20 hours)
a. History
b. Different qualities of Mud
c. Method of collection and soaking
d. Mud  packs local and full, method, uses and contraindications
e. Sand bath – Immersion in Mud pool/ground, Hot mud applications –Mud local applications, physiological effects, therapeutic applications, contra-indications.
f. Practicals.
