Chapter 1: (15 hours)

Pre-historic India, Indus Valley Civilization (IVC), The Aryan Problem, Vedic culture (VC), connections between IVC and VC. Vedic literature: Samhita, Brahmaëa, Upaniñad and Sütra. Dating the Vedas.

Chapter 2: (15 hours)
Ägamas and Tantras. Epics and Puräëas. Period of Mahavéra and Buddha. Ancient geography. Äryavarta and Dakñinapatha. Classical Saìskåta. Cultural artefacts, Arts and Science in Saìskåta.
