PÁTAŇJALA YOGA SÜTRAS I

Exam Duration: 3 Hrs

Chapter 1 (13 hours)
An introduction to utility of Yoga-Sütras, Prerequisite for study of Yoga-Sütras, Division of Cittabhümikás, Definition of Yoga, Division of Vøttis

Chapter-2 (14 hours)
Yogic means to overcome Vøttis, Definition and division of Samádhi, The means to Samádhi, Definitions of Vikúepas and the means to overcome them
Note : Indepth study of this magnum opus requires the study of Yoga-Bháúya by Vyásamuni and other commentaries written by Vácaspatimiùra, Vijòánabhikúu, Sadáùiva Brahmendra etc.

Chapter-3 (13 hours)
The definition and utility of Kriyá yoga, Kleùas and their role in developing mental knots, Discrimination between Sukha and Duçkha, The role of Vivekakhyáti in eradicating mental traumas.

Chapter–4 (13 hours)
Division and definitions of Yogáñgas.

Note:
— 5 hours for taking a special guidance while preparing their assignments and doing reference works.
— 2 hours for conducting seminars and colloquiums.
