COMPUTER & COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Chapter 1: (60 hours)
Introduction To Computer

1. Introduction to the PC a. Files, directories (folders) and their organization Creating simple text files. The Save command. The Open command. The Save As command.
b. Copying files. Deleting files. The Cut-Copy-Paste operations.Windows utilities: Calculator, Paint.

2. Word processing
a. Basic editing in Word. Learning the Formatting toolbar Lists. Tables.
b. Formatting paragraphs, indents and tabs.
c. Exploring the menus (Insert, Format, Tools, Table)

3.Samskrit characters in Word
a. Using ITranslator

4. Excel – spreadsheet applications
a. Basic functionality of a worksheet.
b. Elementary calculations. Graphs (line, column, pie)
c. Simple formulas (sum, average, count, stdev)

Note:
All classes will be practical classes. The first few classes could be used to get students used to the keyboard. Lots of assignments are necessary.

English Language & Communication
1. Grammer and Composition
2. Study meterials –
3. Practical Vedanta by Swami Vivekananda
4. Selected passages from Lectures from Colombo to Almora

Note:
