Basic Course in Music (BCM)

OBJECTIVE
To give an initial training for yoga students into music: mainly Sruthi and Tala Jnana and make them learn simple Bhajans, dhuns, namavalis, etc for participation in bhajan sessions.

SYLLABUS
Theory:
Concept of sound in yoga and spiritual lore; Evolution of music; Musicology Antiquity, Gandharva Vidya, Eastern and Western music, Classical music and modern trends.
Inter-relations of yoga and music; Effect of music on plant and human growth; Music and emotions; Music therapy Research findings.
Practice:
Practice of "sa-pa-sa" with harmonium and learning to tune in; simple Bhajans etc.

1 Week.
