In the year 2004-05 we experienced the wrath of her rage when mother earth shook a little. Several natural calamities round the globe in the form of tsunami, hurricanes and major earth quacks made us feel that the pralaya is nearing. It created havoc with heavy loss of life and property. This has left a shudder in those who witnessed or suffered and survived the trauma.

Social Phobia   Stress
Social anxiety is the third largest psychological problem in the world today, but few people understand this. One of the worst circumstances, though, is meeting people who are "authority figures" such as bosses and supervisors at work. The anxiety level is very high and they're so focused on "not failing" and "giving themselves away" that they don't even remember what was said in the conversation.

Women make up nearly 30% of the total workforce in India. Till date, there has been no single, comprehensive, large, scale study carried out in the country which does justice to the problems faced by women in the workplace. For 90% of the working women, the workplace is often the second job that they shoulder – even when they are career oriented women. All studies on stress therefore have to be focused taking into account the multiple stressors that women have to face.

Anxiety and Depression   Panic Disorder
Yogis, the Indian scientists, to understand the nature of the universe turned inwards and began their experiments on the most highly evolved stuff of this universe - the human mind and arrived at fascinating truths. Sage Vasista asks us to do an experiment to find an answer to the question, “what is your state when you are in acute anxiety ?"

Panic Disorder is diagnosed when an individual suffers at least two unexpected Panic Attacks, followed by at least 1 month of concern over having another attack. The frequency and severity of the attacks varies from person to person, an individual might suffer from repeated attacks for weeks, while another will have short bursts of very severe attacks.

Mentally Handicapped   Anger
Mental retardation means a delay in mental development compared to others of the same age. A mentally retarded child learns at a much slower rate than a normal child. At maturity his/her capacity to understand and learn will be less than average. There are four general classifications of mental handicaps; mild and moderate are educable and go to school for studying although they cannot go on at the same pace as others of the same age. The severe and profound handicaps are only trainable.

Life has its ups and downs, even during a single day our emotions can seem like they are riding on a veritable roller coaster In the yoga sutras Patanjali says “Pain and suffering that has not yet manifested can and is to be avoided” Anger can be the result of hurt pride, of unreasonable expectations, or of repeated hostile fantasies.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome   Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Apnea means "cessation of breath”. Sleep Apnea is characterized by restless sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, gasping, choking (may wake self up),confusion upon awakening, excessive perspiration during sleep and unrefreshing sleep. Worries, doubts, superstitious beliefs all are common in everyday life. However, when they become so excessive such as hours of hand washing or make no sense at all such as driving around and around the block to check that an accident didn’t occur then a diagnosis of OCD is made. In OCD, it is as though the brain gets stuck on a particular thought or urge and just can’t let go.

Smoking
A smoking addiction means a person has formed an uncontrollable dependence on cigarettes to the point where stopping smoking would cause severe emotional, mental, or physical reactions. Everyone knows that smoking is harmful and addictive, but few people realize just how risky and addictive it is. Chances are that about one in three smokers who do not stop will eventually die because of their smoking.
