Adenoids |
The word sclera means hardening and derma means skin. Since this condition is characterized by slowly increasing hardening and scarring of the skin it gets this name. Although not a common condition in Indians. It could lead to many worrying complaints disabling the person for many years with no permanent cure available in modern medicine. |
|
Adenoids occurs commonly in children and is associated with tonsillitis. The symptoms of adenoiditis are the same as chronic cold with running nose excessive sneezing and blocking of nose associated with fever. If the child does not improve in 3 to 4 days it may require a course of antibiotic. Repeated episodes of adenoiditis leads to chronic ill health. |

The purpose of Breathing is to take oxygen from air by drawing it into the chest and to throw out the waste gas, carbon dioxide. The respiratory system is suitably designed to provide necessary gas exchange surface area in the air sacs. These air sacs look like branches of grapes in the lung. |

Pneumonia |
Diphtheria is an upper respiratory tract illness characterized by sore throat, low-grade fever, and an adherent membrane of the tonsil(s), pharynx, and/or nose. A milder form of diphtheria can be limited to the skin. It is caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae, an aerobic Gram-positive bacterium. |
|
Pneumonia is the third most frequent reason for hospitalizations (births are first and heart disease is second). Although the majority of pneumonias respond well to treatment, it could be quite dangerous in people with impaired immune systems. |

| Tuberculosis |
|
Hypertension and Heart Diseases |
Tuberculosis is a disease caused by infection by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Although there are many notional schemes to prevent and cure the disease it is still a burning problem in our country. Yoga helps to develop mastery over mind which in tern changes the life style. Awareness is half solution to any problem. |
|
A yogic life style lived in joy and satisfaction forms the core of this life style change. It is an attitudinal change at the psychological level. If we look at all the risk factors for CHD, one can see that it requires a total change in one’s attitude to refrain totally from smoking, change the food habits, and lead a stress free life. |

Various countries have their own relaxation techniques for pregnant women. Pavlovian School of Russia was inspired by our yogic methods for girls and pregnant women. Hypnosis is one of the methods, which allows the subconscious mind to listen while the conscious mind takes rest. |

| Addison’s Disease |
|
Vitiligo |
Addison’s disease is an endocrine or hormonal disorder described first by Dr. Thomas Addison in 1849. Addison’s disease occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, in some cases, the hormone aldosterone. The most important function of cortisol is to help the body respond to stress and is a very important chemical required for many vital functions of the body. |
|
Vitiligo is a condition in which circumscribed depigmented patches develop. In vitiligo there is focal loss of cells which produce the pigment “melanin” (melanocytes). It may be found in disorders like diabetes, thyroid and adrenal disorders and pernicious anemia. Trauma and sun burn may precipitate this. Although the exact cause is unknown, vitiligo is sometimes set off by severe stress. |

Xerostomia is commonly seen as a side effect of radiation to the head and neck, or a side effect of a wide variety of medications.
